He's the Riorson who doesn't brood — the cousin who's more like a brother, and the one who got every last cadet through to Aretia. All of them. Every single one.

The cousin · Same blood, softer edge

Everything Xaden is, one degree less sharp.

Bodhi has the Riorson brow and curls, but the angles are gentler and he's carrying his late mother's smile — a warmer, more approachable version of the man everyone else is scared of. Xaden calls him a cousin the way you'd call someone a brother. It doesn't make Bodhi a yes-man; he's the one who'll push back to Xaden's face when he thinks Xaden's wrong, then follow him anyway.

The counter · His signet

He doesn't throw fire. He turns yours off.

When Professor Carr sends a stream of fire at the dais, Bodhi steps up and twists his hand like he's turning a dial — and the flames just die. His signet is countering: he can suppress, block, or unmake another rider's power. In a world that fights with signets, the man who can switch yours off is one of the most dangerous people in the room, and he's the calmest one in it.

The Iron Section · What he built

Durran, you brought every single cadet.

At the first Battle Brief in Aretia, Brennan announces that Flame Section has the singular honour of being completely intact — not one cadet lost — and renames it the Iron Section on the spot, patch and all. When his people cheer too loudly, Bodhi glances back at them like he can't take them anywhere nice. He'd never say the number out loud. He didn't have to.

Not the province · Onyx Storm

He's not in this for a crown.

As the questions about who rules Tyrrendor start circling, Bodhi's answer never wavers: he doesn't want Xaden's province and he never did. He's exactly where he wants to be — protecting his cousin and his home. When Xaden has to run, he clasps Bodhi's shoulder and trusts Violet's life to him. That's the whole measure of him. He serves the people, not the title.

Bodhi walks on as one of the figures waiting at the end of the parapet for Xaden, and never once tries to be the main event. His arc is the quiet kind: a marked child of the Apostasy who becomes the reasonable centre of a very unreasonable rebellion. He's the voice that argues for defending civilians, the hand that switches off a fire signet without raising his own, the section leader who counts his cadets home to the last one. Everyone around him is chasing power or fleeing it. Bodhi just wants his people breathing and his cousin alive — and somehow that makes him the strongest person in the room.

At the end of the parapet
Violet goes looking for Xaden and finds Bodhi and Garrick already there, waiting for him. First read: cautious, standoffish, one of the marked ones she isn't sure she trusts. It doesn't stay that way.

Resson
On the ground at Resson he and Garrick fight to evacuate a town while venin close in. A venin snaps his arm in four places; a wyvern gets on his tail until Cuir kills it. He walks off the worst battle of his life cracking jokes to keep Xaden upright. That's the job, as he sees it.

The counter
When the rebellion is exposed and Carr's fire comes screaming at the dais, Bodhi twists his hand like turning a dial and the flames gutter out. The whole college learns at once what the quiet Riorson can do: unmake a signet mid-cast. Nobody looks at him the same again.

The Iron Section
Aretia, first Battle Brief. Brennan tells him he brought every single cadet through, renames Flame Section the Iron Section, and hands them a patch. Bodhi shoots his cheering people a look like they've embarrassed him at dinner. Underneath it: the proudest man in Tyrrendor.

The promise
Onyx Storm puts Violet in his keeping. Xaden grabs his shoulder — stay with her, remember your promise — and runs for Sgaeyl. Bodhi keeps it, because keeping the people Xaden loves alive is the only ambition he's ever had.

Never the province
When succession starts to matter, he says it plainly: he doesn't want the province, he wants his cousin and his home. The steadiest loyalty in the series, offered with no interest in the reward. It's why you'd follow him anywhere.
