Small and still on purpose.
High Lord's wife, mother of his seven sons, and in a court that worships strength she has made herself small. Not weakness. Calculation. The alternative, in Beron's house, is worse — and her sons know exactly what goes on behind those russet walls and can't stop it. So she banks the fire. Keeps one coal alive through a very long, very cold night. We've never wanted to burn a court down more.
The love · Day across the mountains
The one thing Beron never got to take.
Before the marriage, before Autumn, there was Helion. And there still is — in the careful, ruinous way of people who don't get to have what they want. Lucien is the proof. Not Beron's son. Helion's. A secret she has carried alone for the whole of her son's life, and she's kept it airtight — Beron never knew, Helion still doesn't, Lucien least of all. The only tell is his face: pure Day Court sun-king, if you know where to look. We knew where to look. Devastating. Yeah.
The mother · What endurance is for
The son she keeps safest of all.
Of everything Autumn took from her, Lucien is the one it didn't. Fierce about her youngest in a house with no tenderness in it, and his parentage is the one act of defiance she got to keep. Behind the held tongue and the bowed head: a woman whose endurance always had a point. Outlast Beron. Keep the boy out of his reach. The bowed head was never the whole story. We knew.
