The Threshold

the Wall

“Two worlds, divided by a breath of grey — and nothing crossed but those who paid the price.”

The Wall — Prythian

The Wall

Invisible. Ancient. Splitting the island in two — faerie Prythian to the north, the mortal lands to the south. Then Hybern's war tore it open, and there was no more pretending.

The Divide

A line drawn in magic

A treaty-born boundary of invisible magic, run across the island after the High Fae and humankind finished tearing each other apart. To mortal eyes, nothing — empty air, an ordinary stretch of land. Cross it anyway and you stepped out of one world and into another, where mortality stopped applying and the seven courts ruled. Five centuries of it. We always knew a stillness that perfect was hiding something.

The Gaps

Where the line thinned

Never perfect, this Wall. Hidden holes and weak places scattered along its length, where the magic frayed thin enough for faeries to slip south and mortals to wander north — sometimes without ever knowing they had. The human villages near it lived with the dread of what came through in the dark. A threshold, not a fortress. Porous, uneasy, felt but never quite seen. We'd have built it taller.

The Breaking

When the Wall came down

The War with Hybern tore it open — the ancient magic broken so Hybern's forces could pour unchecked into the mortal lands. The long division between Prythian and the human world ended in a single conflict, and the two peoples were forced to reckon with each other at last. A settled fact of the world for centuries, gone. The threshold that kept the worlds apart, just a memory now. We're not okay about it.
