The cliff-and-river flight academy at Cliffsbane that made every gryphon flier there ever was — whose destruction scatters them out of their homeland and into an alliance with the riders they'd hated for four hundred years.

Zolya is where gryphon fliers are made — a cliff-and-river academy at Cliffsbane where you bond by throwing yourself off the edge and holding on until a gryphon decides you're worth keeping. Then the venin burn it down. The place that produced every flier in the story becomes cinders, and the survivors scatter into an alliance with the dragon riders they'd been raised to hate. Their loss is where the two peoples finally meet.

The File

Region: Poromiel — a flight academy set on the cliffs above a river at the foot of the mountains.
What it is: The fliers' Basgiath. The Cliffsbane academy, where gryphons and fliers are bonded and trained.
How you bond: You leap off the cliffs and hold on until a gryphon decides to keep you — the fliers' version of Threshing.
What happened here: The venin destroy it. The academy that made every flier is turned to cinders.
What it changed: Its fall scatters the fliers homeless into the alliance — old enemies, suddenly on the same side.
Status: Fallen. The hinge that turned four centuries of enemies into partners.
