Drakon · The full story
The sun came back for the second war.
Gold-feathered. Warm where everyone else in Prythian runs cold. Faked his own death to keep Miryam and a quiet island — then walked back out of legend when Hybern rose again. We were not emotionally prepared.
Who he is
The winged prince
Prince of the Seraphim — the feathered ones, the gold answer to the leather-winged Illyrians, an aerial host that moves like a single bright blade. In the first war against Hybern he was one of the powers that turned it, his legion a flight of gold against the Black Land. And he is warm. After a whole continent of brooding High Lords, here's an ancient who wears his devotion as openly as his sword and has lived long enough to know exactly what's worth fighting for. We did not see it coming.
The woman he freed
Miryam
Miryam was handed to him as a gift — a half-mortal slave from the Queen of the Black Land. He freed her instead of keeping her, and in the freeing found the one tether of his long life. She'd been bound to Jurian first, before the war turned that man into someone she couldn't stay beside; she and Drakon became mates. And when the first war ended they did the thing the legend would never have permitted — faked their deaths, vanished to a hidden island, built a quiet life out of reach of every court that wanted to make a monument of them. He chose the island. We respect it deeply.
The return
When the same enemy rose
An age of believing him dead. Then Hybern rose a second time, and the prince who helped end the first war walked back in to help end this one — Seraphim at his back, a legend stepping out of the past, reinforcements no one alive had dared hope for. And on that battlefield the oldest wound surfaces: Jurian is there too, resurrected and on the same side, the grief of lifetimes nearly turning blade on blade before Mor steps between. He fights. He survives. He goes home — back to the island, back to Miryam, back to the only peace either of them ever wanted. We're not crying. You're crying.
The long devotion
His arc
- 01
The prince given a slave
The Queen of the Black Land gifts him Miryam, a half-mortal meant to be owned. He frees her instead. First impression: flawless.
- 02
The first war
He fights as a power of the alliance against Hybern, his Seraphim legion a flight of gold against the dark. Mated to Miryam now, and bound in the way that lasts.
- 03
The two deaths
War won, the two of them fake their own ends and disappear — trading legend for a hidden island and a quiet life, refusing to be made into anyone's monument. Iconic exit.
- 04
The return
An age later Hybern rises again. The prince everyone buried comes back with his legion at his back — and faces, across the same battlefield, the resurrected man Miryam once knew.
- 05
Home
He survives the second war the way he survived the first, and goes home to the island and to Miryam — the only peace he ever wanted. That's the whole arc. We're at peace with it.
Arms and bearing
What marks the prince
A warrior of an older age. Gold-feathered, sun-warmed, carried like a man with nothing left to prove — because he doesn't.
- Gold-feathered wingsThe mark of the Seraphim — great eagle-like wings of feather, not the membrane of the Illyrians. Sunlit, not shadowed.
- His Seraphim hostThe legion he commands as one bright weapon — the reinforcements that helped turn both wars against Hybern.
