What it is

A line you cannot see

The Wall is no stone rampart but an invisible barrier of ancient magic — a seam in the world that runs along the northern border of the mortal lands and the southern border of Prythian. You feel it before you understand it: a shift in the air on crossing, the bite of ozone, the weight of old power that has held since the High Lords raised it. To mortals it is the edge of the known world, the line beyond which the faeries dwell and from which, for centuries, they were kept out.

What happens there

Holes in the warding

The Wall is not perfect. Hidden crossing-points and breaks let the fae slip through to hunt in the cold woods on the mortal side — the same woods where Feyre is hunting when she kills the wolf that sets her story in motion. For five hundred years it stood as the one promise that held two worlds apart. Then Hybern came, and the Wall was broken, its ward torn open so his armies could pour south into the mortal lands it had so long protected.
