The Summer Court · Capital on the Sea
Adriata
“Built of pearl and coral, white sand underfoot, the sea on every side.”
Adriata · A Court of Thorns and Roses
The city the colour of the tide.
Pearl and coral on the sea-cliffs, white sand underfoot, turquoise water on every side. The most beautiful place the Night Court ever robbed.
At a glance
The shape of the city.
The place · Pearl and water
A palace the sea built.
Pale gleaming stone straight out of the water, a palace of pearl and coral catching the sun, white sand running down to the tideline. After the long winter under Amarantha it lands like the morning after — open, sunlit, almost too beautiful to be real. We didn't trust it either.
The court it crowns
The young Court, rebuilding.
The heart of the youngest Court, ruled by the youngest of the High Lords. The old line was lost; the title fell to Tarquin, who governs from the city with an openness none of the others bother with. He keeps half the Book of Breathings here — which is exactly why Feyre and Rhys came smiling to take it.
The trust that broke
Welcomed, then betrayed.
Tarquin opened Adriata to the Night Court as friends and almost-allies. They left with half the Book and his good faith in pieces — the wound the war against Hybern would eventually force everyone to swallow. The city remembers being generous. It remembers being robbed for it. So do we.
