The Resurrected · Hero of the First War · Amarantha's Trophy

Jurian

Five hundred years an eye in Amarantha's ring, then resurrected by the people he'd spend the whole war ruining. We knew that patience was a problem.

Soldier of the first great War, lover of Miryam, double-agent against Hybern.

Who he is

The relic

No magic. Just bronze breastplate, an ancient sword, Roman-Legion leather, a war-horse, and the kind of strategy that doesn't need fae blood to be terrifying. He fought beside Miryam and her people for their freedom in the first great War, and a grief that outlasted his own body. Then Amarantha decided death was too kind — killed him slowly, kept his eye in her ring, a living trophy of the lover she'd torn from Miryam. Five hundred years a fragment in a jewel, conscious of every cruelty, denied even being gone. We did not know it was possible to root for an eyeball. And yet.

What he carries

The grudge

Hybern brought him back whole and expected gratitude. What they got was a man who'd spent five centuries learning the exact dimensions of his hatred. He walked back in wearing the ancient armor, smelling of bronze and old leather and dried blood, voice clipped with the patience of someone who has out-waited everyone alive. To Hybern, the obedient double agent. Underneath, every word bent toward their ruin. His allegiance was never a court. It was the count he'd been keeping the whole time he hung in that ring. Playing the long game is one thing. Playing it from inside a piece of jewelry for half a millennium is another.

What he loved

Miryam

Under the bronze and the spite, the oldest wound: Miryam, loved and lost when Amarantha tore them apart, carried as a weight in his throat. Not a villain, not quite a hero — every choice he makes traces back to a love five hundred years gone and the woman who turned it into a souvenir. A second chance he never asked for, spent settling the only debt he ever cared about. Devotion that survives being a decorative eyeball for five centuries. We're not okay.

What he holds onto

His tethers

Miryam

Loved and lost in the first War, mourned across five centuries and carried as a debt. The whole grudge starts here.

The grudge

Five hundred years old and kept sharp through every one of them in Amarantha's ring. Hobbies, but make it vengeance.

The old kit

Bronze breastplate, ancient sword, Legion shield — a soldier who never once left his war behind.

The long count

His arc

01

The Hero of the War

Mortal commander beside Miryam in the first great War. Bronze and strategy, no magic, a will that would not break. The unfair-fight one.

02

The Eye in the Ring

Amarantha kills him slowly and keeps his eye in her ring — five hundred years a conscious trophy, severed from Miryam, denied even oblivion. We're not elaborating.

03

The Resurrection

Hybern restores him to flesh, expecting loyalty bought by gratitude. He returns whole, ancient, and patient as the grave. They had no idea.

04

The Double Agent

He plays Hybern's obedient instrument while bending every move toward their destruction — the long grudge finally given a body to act through.

05

The Reckoning

He survives the War on the side that ends Hybern, the five-century debt paid down to the bone. We'd have waited too.
