The Night Court
The Night Court
“A hidden city where the stars hang low — kept out of the world's sight for five thousand years.”
The Night Court of Prythian
One territory that holds cruelty and starlight at once.
The largest of Prythian's seven High Courts, ruled by Rhysand from the mountainous northern reaches — a realm of two faces, where a brutal Court of Nightmares hides a luminous Court of Dreams.

Two Faces
Dreams in the light, nightmares beneath
The Night Court wears two faces at once. Its public face is the Hewn City — the brutal Court of Nightmares carved into a hollowed mountain in the east, which Rhysand lets the world believe is the whole of his realm. Its hidden heart is Velaris, the City of Starlight, also called the Court of Dreams: a luminous river-city open to the sky, warded and glamoured out of sight for five thousand years.
The Holdings
War-camp to dreamscape
Between its two poles stretch the rest of the Court's lands. The red-stone House of Wind looms above Velaris; the harsh Illyrian Steppes and war-camps train the winged warrior caste; and the ancient mountain Prison holds the Old Gods bound. It is a single territory that holds cruelty and starlight, war-camp and dreamscape, all at once.
