The Captain of Thesan's Guard

At the High Lord's shoulder. Also at his side. We noticed.

A Peregryn. Captain of Thesan's guard and commander of the Dawn Court's winged legion, and the male Thesan loves. The books never give him a name. They give him the room, every time.

His mate ThesanHe stands at Thesan's shoulder because that is his post: Captain of the Guard, sworn to the High Lord of Dawn. He stays there for every other reason too, and has never once bothered to hide which is which. Let the courts talk. He guards the man and loves him in the same breath, plainly, in the light.Enter Thesan

Who he is

Guard and beloved. Both.

A Peregryn of the Dawn Court, captain of Thesan's guard, and the one who commands the Peregryn legion that flies for the High Lord of Dawn. At the meeting of the High Lords he stayed close to Thesan and watched the room for anything that moved wrong. He is also the male Thesan loves. The books never hand him a name. We'd have liked one. We've made our peace.

In the open

Hidden under Amarantha. Not after.

While Amarantha held Prythian, Thesan kept the relationship unacknowledged, for the captain's sake; she had a way with the Dawn Court's winged folk, and it involved pulling out feathers. When she was dead he claimed it in the open, and by the time the courts gathered against Hybern nobody in the room was in any doubt. Then the captain led the Peregryns into the war. In a court named for first light, that devotion read like something older and gentler than the war closing in, and we were not okay about how quietly lovely it was.
