Priestess of Sangravah · Gwyn's twin
Catrin Berdara
“My sister and I used to braid bracelets and put these little charms on them full of wishes for each other.”
Gwyn, on Catrin · A Court of Silver Flames
Gwyn's twin. Lost at Sangravah.
A priestess at the temple where they were both born. When Hybern came she sent Gwyn to get the children out, and she died for it in front of her. The bracelets the Valkyries wear started with her.
The temple
Born there. Raised there. A priestess there.
Their mother was raised at Sangravah and had the twins there, and both girls grew up into the priesthood. When Hybern's soldiers hit the temple, Catrin sent Gwyn to gather the children and run for the catacombs while she went to the walls. They caught her. When Gwyn would not give up the children, the general dragged Catrin in front of her and beheaded her, with two other priestesses.
What she left
A wish on a thread.
At Sangravah the two of them braided bracelets for each other and tied tiny charms to them full of wishes. The wish came true when the bracelet fell off. Years later, at a sleepover in the House of Wind, Gwyn taught Nesta and Emerie the same thing, and Nesta's wish on those bracelets is what led the three of them to each other in the Blood Rite. Catrin is in every one of them.
