Aelin's turquoise-and-gold eyes give her away as royalty in every book she's in. They came down a thousand-year line from a Fae queen who traded immortality for a mortal man.
Mab is the youngest of the three legendary Fae Sister-Queens and the founder of House Ashryver, from Throne of Glass — the fair swan-queen who fell for a human prince, gave up her immortality to grow old beside him, and became the goddess Deanna to the descendants she left behind. Her blood runs straight to Aelin and Aedion, in the eyes and the water and the fire.

The world she came from
She belongs to the first age of the Fae, when three sisters held the world between them. What she loved cannot be pulled loose from that world — the courts, the small folk, the sisters at her side. When it passed, the world kept her anyway, almost as a goddess.
