The Matron

Everything the reader loves Manon for surviving — the cruelty, the iron, the White Demon — this is the woman who built it into her on purpose.

The Blackbeak Matron is Manon's grandmother and the head of the Blackbeak witch-clan, from Throne of Glass — the architect of Manon's cruelty, who murdered her own daughter at Manon's birth, buried the girl's Crochan blood for a century, and rules by fear alone. She is the villain who is family, which is the worst kind there is.
