The charming one, the arrogant one, the one who never takes anything seriously — and the only member of the Cadre who took the oath on purpose, to save someone else.
THE TWIN
He swore himself to Maeve so his brother wouldn't have to. Both things happened anyway.
Fenrys and Connall are identical — the white wolf and the black, of House Moonbeam. While Fenrys was away being tested for the Cadre, Connall took the blood oath and Maeve took him to her bed. So Fenrys swore the oath himself and deliberately drew her attention onto his own body to spare his brother, walking into centuries of servitude on purpose. It is the choice that defines him and the choice that dooms him: the whole point of it was to protect Connall, and Maeve keeps Connall anyway, precisely so she can use him.
THE MASK
The arrogance is the only part of himself the oath can't command.
He blink-fades short distances, fights beside the Cadre, and hides real torment under swagger, because swagger is the one thing Maeve never ordered him to hand over. Sent with Gavriel to Skull's Bay to kill Lorcan, he cuts a deal to fight for Aelin instead — and then the oath physically compels him to attack Lorcan in the marsh anyway, until Rowan's claim of protection over Lorcan gives him the loophole to resist. That is the shape of every scene he's in: a man who despises what he's bound to, looking for the crack in the wall.
THE WOLF WHO WATCHED
Two months in wolf form, forced to watch, forbidden to help.
When Maeve takes Aelin she keeps Fenrys too, held as a wolf, kept at Cairn's sword-point whenever Aelin is pulled from the iron coffin. The only thing he can do is a code of blinks — three for a question, are you all right; four for the vow, I am here, I am with you — the single thread of comfort in the dark. And then Maeve uses the blood oath to force Connall to drive a blade into his own heart while Fenrys, unable to move a muscle, watches his twin die.
SOME FIRE LEFT IN YOU
He breaks the thing that cannot be broken.
Cairn chains Aelin to a table and moves to melt the iron mask onto her face, and her despairing eyes find his. Fenrys pushes up against the oath's invisible chains — screaming with no sound from his open maw, against a blood-sworn order to stay down — and snaps Maeve's oath, which is believed both impossible and lethal. He attacks Cairn, buys Aelin the run, and should die of the severing. Aelin saves him the only way there is: she binds him to a new oath, to her own court, and for the first time he means the words.

His whole story is the distance between what the oath makes him do and what he'd give anything to do instead.
The two brothers
Fenrys and his identical twin Connall of House Moonbeam are tested for the Cadre — one the white wolf, one the black.
The oath he chose
Returning to find Connall bound and in Maeve's bed, Fenrys swears the oath himself and draws her attention onto himself to spare his brother.
Mistward and Doranelle
He answers Rowan's call with the Cadre and stands in the hall when Aelin arrives to bargain with Maeve, compelled to serve a queen he loathes.
Skull's Bay
Sent with Gavriel to hunt Lorcan, he cuts a deal to fight for Aelin against Erawan instead.
The marsh
The oath compels him to attack Lorcan until Rowan's declaration of protection gives him the crack he needs to stop.
Kept
Maeve frees Gavriel's and Lorcan's bonds but specifically keeps Fenrys, taken alongside the captured queen.
The blinking code
Held as a wolf, he speaks to Aelin in blinks — three a question, four the promise that he is there and with her.
Connall
Maeve compels his twin to drive a blade into his own heart while Fenrys, frozen by the oath, is made to watch.
Some Fire Left in You
Cairn goes for the iron mask; Aelin's eyes find his across the tent.
Breaking the oath
He shatters Maeve's blood oath — thought impossible and lethal — and throws himself at Cairn to give Aelin the opening.
A new oath
Dying from the severing, he is saved when Aelin binds him to her court, and for once he swears gladly.
Not all right
Later he and Aelin use the blink code again and both finally admit it out loud: neither of them is all right.
