Blue clubtail · Aaric Graycastle's dragon · the hidden prince's mount
Molvic
A sapphire clubtail — the ruthless, battle-prized breed — bonded to a king's son who enrolled under a name he made up on the spot. Composed royalty in disguise, right down to the dragon.
Aaric's blue clubtail: steady, resolute, and the anchor to the series' best-kept identity. Like his rider, he holds the biggest card face-down until it counts.
The disguise · Blue, and composed
The breed matched to a prince playing commoner.
Blue clubtails are the ruthless, battle-prized line, and Molvic reads as calm resolve rather than flash — which is exactly the register of the rider hiding a crown behind a borrowed surname. The dragon keeps the same secret his rider does: enormous, and quiet about it.
What he channels · The card held back
The quiet one carried the loudest signet.
Through the bond Aaric holds true precognition — foresight fuller than the general everyone fears — and sits on it for two books until it's the blade that reaches the right hand at the right moment. Molvic is the mount of the hinge the whole endgame swings on.
His people
The ones inside the secret, and the one his rider foresaw the end of.
