Athebyne

Athebyne · Navarre · the outpost that was empty on purpose

Athebyne

You fly in expecting a manned waypoint and find nobody home — just your name on a sealed envelope and a choice designed to kill you.

A mountainside border outpost past the wards, and the turn War Games was built around: arrive, find it abandoned, read the note, and pick between saving Resson's civilians or saving your own command. The road to Resson runs through here.

The empty outpost

The waypoint that wasn't manned, and never was going to be.

We never see Athebyne hold a garrison. The squad reaches it mid-War-Games expecting a checkpoint and finds a deserted mountainside and a door that opens on nothing. That emptiness is the point — the outpost was cleared so no one would be watching what happened next.

The letter

One envelope, one impossible choice.

Left behind is a sealed envelope with Xaden's name on it, from Colonel Aetos. Defend the Poromish village of Resson from an attack you're not supposed to survive — or fly on to Eltuval and leave three hundred strangers to it. They stayed. Everything after Resson starts with this note.

The File

Kingdom
Navarre — a border outpost past the protective wards.
What it is
A manned waypoint on paper. In practice, the empty room where the trap was sprung.
What happened here
Xaden's squad arrives during the third War Games challenge to find it deserted — and a sealed note from Colonel Aetos waiting.
The choice
Defend Resson from the incoming venin, where they were meant to die — or fly on to headquarters and abandon the village.
Why
The trap was set after Dain read the truth of Xaden's cross-border missions out of Violet's memories.
Status
Never seen holding anyone. It exists to be empty.
