Tecarus

A self-interested collector of beautiful, valuable things who happened to own a luminary — and so happened to hold the single object the whole revolution needed. He makes Violet earn it in his arena, rises to a throne when Suniva takes the queen, and turns Poromiel from four-hundred-year enemy into frontline ally.

Viscount — then King — Tecarus of Cordyn: opulent, transactional, reading every room for its price. Not a warrior. The man whose collection, and whose crown, decide the war.

Who he is · The collector

Everything has a price, and he knows all of them.

Tecarus is not brave and doesn't pretend to be — he's a connoisseur of valuable things who built a white-marble city for pleasure, not war, and reads people the way he reads a gem: for worth and for leverage. The genre loves a noble ally; Tecarus is the more interesting kind, the one who helps because you've made it worth his while and never once lets you forget the transaction. He's proof the war gets won by self-interest pointed the right way.

The luminary · What he was sitting on

The whole forge, kept as a curiosity.

The revolution's problem is heat: you can't smelt the alloy that kills venin without a luminary, and there are only two — one at Basgiath, one in Tecarus's collection. So Violet buys it the hard way, walking into his gaming arena and killing a caged venin with lightning, live, as proof of what she is. The luminary goes to Aretia to finish the forge. The collector's most valuable piece turns out to be the one thing the war literally cannot be fought without.

The crown · Poromiel's turn

The enemy kingdom, bought and allied.

When Suniva burns and Queen Maraya falls, the throne she named him for passes to Tecarus — and with it, Poromiel itself pivots. The kingdom Navarre has sneered at for four centuries becomes the ally holding the forge, sheltering the displaced fliers, and standing on the frontline of the real war. It isn't sentiment that turns him; it's alignment. Tecarus is the moment self-interest and survival finally point the same way.
