Aimsir

Brown · golden-eyed · thirty years the general's mount, and the wards' last fuel

Aimsir

General Sorrengail's dragon of thirty-plus years — and half of the sacrifice that keeps Basgiath standing.

The storm at Lilith's command, brown-scaled and gold-eyed, whose life is poured into the wardstone to save the daughter Lilith could never say she loved.

The general's storm

Command, with weather behind it.

Aimsir is the vessel of Lilith's storm-wielding — the sky itself answering to Navarre's hardest general. Thirty years of war have fused the pair into a single instrument: the commander who never flinches, and the weather that arrives the moment she does.

Thirty years

The longest bond we get to watch.

Most bonds in the series are new and raw. This one is three decades deep — a general and her dragon who stopped being two separate things a very long time ago. That length is exactly what makes the ending cost what it costs.

The wardstone

Two lives, spent to raise a wall.

When the wardstone breaks, Lilith has Sloane — a rare siphon — pour her life and Aimsir's straight into the stone. The wards blaze back up; Basgiath holds; Violet lives. The cold general's final act is her warmest, and it takes her dragon of thirty years with her.

Its people

Its rider, and the daughter the sacrifice saved.

Thirty years

A long quiet loyalty that ends in one enormous act.

Aimsir's arc is three decades of steady service and then a death chosen on purpose — the pair who prove, at the very end, that rider and dragon are one thing spent together. The general who taught her own daughter that love looked like distance, buying that daughter a life with the last of what they both had.

  1. 01

    Thirty years

For over three decades Aimsir carries General Lilith Sorrengail — the storm behind Navarre's command, a bond older than most of the riders at Basgiath have been alive.

  2. 02

    The stone breaks

When the wardstone shatters and the wards fail, the war college is one assault away from falling. Lilith has the answer, and the answer costs everything.

  3. 03

    The last channel

She has Sloane pour her life and Aimsir's into the wardstone. The wards flare back up and Basgiath holds — the general and her dragon of thirty years dying together to keep Violet breathing.
