Basgiath had a man whose signet could find the one thing you loved most — and a regime that read his body count and handed him a promotion. He made the back half of Iron Flame a held breath.

Major Burton Varrish, installed as Vice Commandant over the Riders Quadrant to tighten the ship and break the rebellion. He reached for Violet to get to Xaden. He got a blade instead.
