Half her head shaved, the rest dyed pink, hoops down both ears, a full head taller than Violet and built for the mat. Imogen is the first person you register in any room and she's arranged it that way on purpose — the look is a warning, not a decoration. This is a woman who decided a long time ago to be impossible to overlook and impossible to move.

The care shows up as harshness. It's still care.

It starts with Imogen hurting Violet on the mat and agreeing to train her only because Xaden ordered it. What it becomes is the reason Violet survives: brutal weight sessions to build the muscle around her failing joints, runs at dawn, no pity and no softness — because Basgiath doesn't reward either. This genre loves a knife behind a smile. Imogen is the opposite. The bruises are the love. She just won't call it that.

Imogen's signet is kept off the record on purpose — a covert-ops power the rebellion guards like a weapon, because it is one. She's the last line of defence on the Archives heist, the one who makes an operation survivable and then unprovable. In a college that logs every cadet's magic, hers is the one nobody's allowed to name. Onyx Storm suggests she's carrying more than one, which is a rarity that should scare people. It doesn't scare her.

Her people · Why she's like this

Fierce because she's already lost.

Imogen's mother and sister were executed for the rebellion, and she was made to watch. Everything she is runs straight back to that: the loyalty to Xaden, the ferocity, the way she throws herself between the marked ones and anyone who'd hurt them. She trains Liam's grieving little sister because a marked one will not be left undefended on her watch. Quinn is the one person she lets all the way in. You do not want to be standing between Imogen and someone she's decided to keep.

Imogen enters as a threat — faster and more brutal than Violet can counter, openly hostile, a marked one who has every reason to hate a Sorrengail. Her arc is the slow reveal that the hardness was never cruelty; it was grief with nowhere to go and a fierce, unbending instinct to protect her own. She trains the people the quadrant wants dead. She guards the secret that keeps the rebellion alive. She loses more than almost anyone and stays standing. The pink hair is the first thing you see. The loyalty is the thing that lasts.

The mat
Imogen's first real impression is a beating — she's faster and more lethal than Violet can answer, and it takes the instructors calling it to stop her. Establishes her instantly as one of the marked ones and as someone Violet should be wary of. For now.

The offer that was an order
After Threshing she offers to train Violet over breakfast, and Violet clocks it immediately — this is Xaden trying to keep her alive. Imogen does it out of loyalty to him, not warmth. Then, somewhere in the runs and the weight room, she starts meaning it.

The muscle around the joints
She builds a regimen for a body that dislocates — strengthening the muscle around Violet's joints so they hold, pushing her to be faster, sharper, harder to break. It's harsh on purpose. It's also the single most useful thing anyone does for Violet's survival.

The heist
Iron Flame turns her classified signet into rebellion infrastructure — she's the last line of defence when the group goes after the Archives, the reason they get out clean and unremembered. The covert asset nobody's supposed to be able to name.

Sloane
She takes on Liam's little sister — undertrained, grieving, dangerously exposed — and trains her hard, because a marked one does not get left to die on Imogen's watch. Loyalty that runs along family lines she chose, not blood.

Still standing
After Violet's torture she leaves for Aretia and keeps working; through Onyx Storm she carries more power than one signet should allow and fights alongside people she once wouldn't have crossed a room for. Grief made her hard. It never once made her fold.
