King Tauri

The King of Navarre · the crown that guards the lie · a chestful of medals for wars he never fought

King Tauri

The bloodless king at the top of every cover-up in the series — the crown that has spent centuries pretending the venin aren't real, the fliers of Poromiel aren't people, and the war it's actually losing isn't happening. He didn't win the medals. He just kept the secret.

Reigning King of Navarre, father to Halden, Alic and Aaric, and the one bloodline that can open the warded Royal Vault at Basgiath. Ceremonial power, inherited authority, and a very long list of things he'd rather you never read.

The crown · The lie he guards

All the medals, none of the battles — and one very old secret.

King Tauri is inherited authority in its emptiest form: a man wearing decorations for wars other people bled in, on a throne handed down rather than won. His whole weight is in what the crown protects — the venin, scrubbed from the record; the real enemy renamed as an old grudge with Poromiel; a college trained for the wrong war so its people stay obedient. He didn't start the deception. He's the one currently guarding it, arming his own guards in secret while telling the kingdom there's nothing to arm against — until his own son spots the daggers and enrolls to fight what his father won't.

627 AU · What he did to the children

The cruelty that made a generation.

The crown's answer to the Tyrrish secession is the wound the whole younger cast carries: the rebellion's leaders burned in Calldyr in front of their own kids, and those kids branded as traitors and conscripted to die. Xaden, Imogen, Bodhi — the marked ones are Tauri's handiwork, the receipt for a throne that would rather make orphans than admit it lied. He built his own opposition and never once saw it coming.
