The isle where the quest stopped worrying about the enemy outside and learned to watch the person standing next to it.
A god-named, triumvirate-ruled isle whose forest burns when a traitor in the squad nearly kills Garrick — the crossing that sharpens the whole book's fear: the knife comes from inside.
The betrayal
The knife came from inside the squad.
Hedotis is ruled by three and named for a god, but that's not what you'll remember it for. You'll remember it because a traitor in the squad turns on Garrick and very nearly kills him — and Chradh burns the forest down around it. The isle's whole job in the story is to make the danger personal: after Hedotis, the squad can't trust the road, or the person walking it with them.
