A forward outpost in Morraine Province on the Cygnisen border, ringed by the Esben Mountains: where Violet reunites with Mira, and where Navarre's protective wards fail on the page for the first time — because someone made them.

A reward posting, and a rare reunion.

Winning the squad battles buys a week at Montserrat, which is as close to a holiday as Basgiath gets — mud, heat, and Mira posted on the wall. For a few pages it's almost calm: two Sorrengail sisters at a frontier fort, the war still something that happens to other people.

When the wards fell

The first time we watch the impossible happen.

Then the wards go down and a Nightwing drift pours over the walls. Wards are supposed to hold, always — so watching them fail is the first crack in everything Violet's been told. It wasn't an accident. Someone inside sabotaged them, and the conspiracy that runs the series starts leaking out here.

Kingdom: Navarre — a forward fort in Morraine Province, near the Cygnisen border, roughly six hours' flight from Basgiath.
What it is: Four stone walls, corner turrets, a spiked portcullis and a muddy courtyard. Hot and dry — April here feels like June at Basgiath.
Who holds it: An infantry company and twelve rotating riders, guarding Navarre's contested eastern marches.
What happened here: Violet's squad wins it as a reward, she reunites with Mira — then a Nightwing gryphon drift attacks when the wards suddenly fail.
The reveal: The wards didn't fail on their own. They were sabotaged from within — the first proof the threat is partly inside the kingdom.
Status: A frontier fort, and the crack where the whole conspiracy first shows through.
