Healer Quadrant · The full story

How it teaches you what healing actually costs.

The pale-blue quadrant that patches you up between the things trying to kill you — and charges the mender for the privilege.

The culture

The only wing at Basgiath built to undo the damage.

Everywhere else is doing its level best to kill you; this is the one place trying to reverse it. Rare menders pair with non-magical healers, and between them they keep the whole Riders Quadrant breathing. Nolon runs it with a steadiness that reads, over enough visits, as its own quiet kind of love.

The cost

It costs the mender's own pain — healing here is never free.

A mender takes the wound into their own body to close it, so every act of mercy is paid for in someone's flesh. Mending is called the most precious signet precisely because it hurts to give — and the ones who keep giving it anyway are the bravest people in the building.

The regular

They know her by name in here, and that's not a compliment.

Violet's joints give out on a good day, so she knows the mending table better than anyone — Nolon patched her up more times than either of them counted. Which is the cruelty of the place: it fixes her, then hands her straight back to the war to get hurt again.

A year in the Healer Quadrant

How it teaches you what healing actually costs.

The Healer Quadrant is the one wing at Basgiath built to undo the damage — but it bills the mender for every mercy. Here's the year that teaches you the price of the pale blue.

  1. 01

    Sorted to the pale blue

You arrive as a mender — the rarest signet in Navarre — or a non-magical healer to work beside them. Either way, you're here to keep other people breathing.

  2. 02

    The clinical rhythm

Lamplit stone, bone-white linen, an endless intake of casualties off the parapet, the ring and the border. You learn to hold a body together under a war's worth of wounds.

  3. 03

    The first mending

You close a wound — and feel it. A mender takes the injury into their own body to heal it, so the first real mending is the moment you understand the price of the signet they call 'the most precious'.

  4. 04

    Into the infirmary

You take your place keeping riders alive between kills — patching the same people up and handing them straight back to the war. Mercy on a loop. We're still not sure it's kindness.
