The rebellion didn't only run on dragons. It ran through the Archives, one un-logged book at a time — because the strongest scribe in her year decided the truth belonged to the people it protected, and started handing it over.

The un-logged shelf

The most dangerous thing in the Archives is a scribe who stops writing things down.

Scribes control who reads what, and every request is logged. Jesinia stopped logging Violet's. She traded restricted texts off the record, invented safer ways to pass them, and caught on to exactly how lethal the research was without ever being told. The rebellion's whole case against Navarre got assembled in the quietest room in the fortress, by the one person nobody thought to watch.

Seven, not six

One mistranslation held the war shut for centuries. She fixed it.

The warding ritual everyone believed needed six dragon dens actually needed seven — the lie was buried in the language, and only someone fluent in Old Lucerish could dig it out. Jesinia re-translated Lyra's journal, found Violet, and handed her the sentence that cracked open the seventh den and everything Andarna turned out to be. The scribes hid the truth in a translation. A scribe gave it back.

She's Deaf, and the tell for who actually matters is simple: they learn to sign. Liam did — flirted with her in the stacks, learned her language, and then Resson took him before it could be anything. We don't talk about the almost. Sawyer learned too, and stayed: turned up to research the wards and kept turning up, a note left on an infirmary table, the one who didn't go anywhere.

Jesinia never crosses the parapet, never bonds a dragon, never throws lightning — and she still ends up more responsible for the truth surviving than almost anyone in the saga. Her arc is the slow radicalisation of a rule-follower: a scribe raised to keep the record who decides, one forbidden book at a time, that keeping it isn't the same as protecting it.

The friend
Before Conscription Day she and Violet studied for the scribe exam together — the life Violet assumed she'd have. When the parapet takes Violet into the Riders instead, Jesinia is the one familiar, safe face left in a college built to kill her.

The book that wasn't there
Violet asks the Archives for her father's forbidden folklore. It isn't in the catalogue. Neither is 'venin.' Jesinia clocks the danger of the question faster than Violet does — and quietly stops writing the requests down.

The smuggle
First Six texts, ward histories, restricted scrolls — she trades them off the record and builds a way to pass information that leaves no trail. The research that unmakes Navarre's lie runs entirely through her hands, and none of it exists on paper she signed.

Seven, not six
She re-translates Lyra's journal and delivers the correction that changes the war: the wards need seven dragon dens, not six. It cracks open the seventh den, and Andarna. The single most load-bearing sentence in the series, and a scribe wrote it.

The press, then the record
She deserts to Aretia and builds the printing press — a scribe turning the tool of censorship into a weapon of truth. Markham rigs her exams in revenge. She becomes Curator anyway, and transcribes the whole saga into the language you read it in. The book in your hands is hers.
